Party Plan – the Mechanics of the Business

In this article I am going to discuss how to actually go about running a Party-Plan business. I have already written other articles with suggestions on what to offer if you are running your own Party-Plan business, however, knowing what to sell and knowing how to go about selling it are two different things. But first, let’s look at why you might choose to run a Party-Plan business over any other kind of business. Continue reading

Develop your Business Intuition

There is a knack to being in the right place at the right time in business. One of the ways you can increase your chances of having life unfold the way you would like it to is to repeat affirmations to yourself so that you can expand your mind’s way of thinking about the opportunity at hand at a sub-conscious level. Some of my favourite affirmations were taught to me by Stuart Wilde, and they are ‘I am always in the right place at the right time’. ‘All my needs are constantly met’. ‘I am blessed with unlimited abundance in love, money, friendships, opportunity and talent’. ‘It is safe to trust the process of life’. ‘I am guided and protected’. And last but not least ‘Opportunity finds me’.

Once you begin saying these or similar affirmations to yourself, and you have gathered a bit of experience behind you, you will find that you begin to get into ‘the Zone’ in business. That’s when things will begin to fall into place for you in all that you do. Remember to train yourself to believe that you don’t have to be constantly involved in activity for your business to succeed. If you can make each action you take become effective, then you won’t need to do so much

Give up or Keep Going?

Give up or Keep Going?

How to Face the Toughest Decision of All

How does one know whether to give up or keep going in business? The way for me to tell whether something was working for me was to look to see if things were flowing well in the business. Am I making money? Are people approaching me for my services by responding to my marketing? When they make appointments do they turn up? Are my prices being accepted by my customers, clients or students? Do the representatives of my company work with me or against me? Am I enjoying what I am doing?

The answers to these questions and others like them will determine whether or not to keep going with the venture you are trying to develop. It is always difficult to give up on something that just isn’t working, especially if you have put your heart and soul into trying to make it work. Don’t fret, however, because you will have learned something from the exercise. As long as you come away wiser, then it has been a worthwhile exercise to go through. Your project will not have been a failure if you have learned enough from it to be able to do a better job the next time you have a go.

If you can make each action you take become effective, then you won’t need to do so much work in order to achieve the same result. People who are constantly running around trying to get everything done are taking on too much or not doing things effectively. The truly successful people make running a business look easy – because it doesn’t have to be difficult. It’s only when your belief system says that massive amounts of activity are needed for you to grant yourself the right to make lots of money that running a business becomes difficult. If you choose the right product or service, you don’t really have to work very much at all in order to make money. Train yourself out of thinking that success has to be difficult, because it doesn’t. Work with the subconscious mind by repeating affirmations in order to cancel out some of your old ways of thinking, and watch as the dollars come to you easily and effortlessly.

Build on Strength

Build on Strength

Build on Strength

Once you have started the ball rolling with your new business venture it is important that you grow your business steadily over a period of time. Don’t go rushing to make everything happen at once. Many businesses have fallen over in their first six months because the person trying to develop theirs did not do their homework or tried to make their business expand way, way too quickly. Once you have had some success, allow a period of consolidation to occur before moving ahead into the next stage of development. Within yourself you will need to integrate what you have learned over the last few weeks or months, so don’t go rushing into the next stage of growth too quickly.

If you chart the growth of your business using statistics, it will become obvious when it is time to push to the next stage in your business. If you need to take on staff in order to handle the extra work, always employ them in a casual capacity or as a contractor, never as an employee. They will be too difficult to get rid of if they prove to be unsuitable to the position you have given them if they are an employee. Maintain control at all times by not having people employed in full-time positions for you. Hire contractors rather than employees, or use work-hire agreements. You’ll avoid alot of hidden traps by doing this.

Party Plan – Beauty Services, Belly Dancing and Glamour Parties

Offering your services can work in a party environment too. If you are qualified at massage, facials, manicures and pedicures, personal styling, hairstyling etc, why not offer a mini version of your regular service? 15 minute massages or pedicures for 6 ladies at a discounted price, instead of your regular one hour session might possibly provide you with some new clients in your home based business.

You could perhaps hold massage parties where you give mini-massages AND people can purchase the organic, locally made massage oils that you use at the party.

Perhaps you offer a service like Fitness or Yoga instruction, or art, music or dance lessons. Why not offer a group session at someone’s home? Perhaps a modified version of your regular service to give people a taste of what you offer, and then sign them up for more group or one-on-one sessions.

Services like photography work too. Think of how to do a mini-session focused around a theme or event, or perhaps combine makeup and photography and do Glamour Parties, where you take Glamour shots which the ladies can order from the party. You then go away and develop the photographs and present them nicely upon returning them to the Hostess. The possibilities are endless!

Even better is to find a way to do both! For example, run jewellery parties where people can purchase hand made items from you OR a party where you bring the supplies and teach everyone how to make the jewellery, or cards, or scrapbooks, or quilts, or candles. Or even soaps!!

There are so many things that you can sell via party plan. I’ll think of some more ideas and come back later with them.

Party Plan – Candles, Soaps, Handcremes

You can make your own products if you like. Candles, soaps and home-made hand-cremes do well. Using all naturalingredients you can develop your own range of items. A range of all-natural beauty products would do well with certain groups of women – usually those who are interested in all things eco-friendly. You could also produce your own range of eco-friendly cleaning products that you made yourself. This would do very well at a Party.

If you have time to produce a range of stock in readiness for your parties, and if you have a place to store them, you will do really well. Well enough to hire the help of one or more people to come and help you make some more in readiness for another lot of parties.

Making candles is messy work though.  It will turn your kitchen into chaos, but if you love what you do, it’s worth it.More ideas coming in the next article……

Perhaps you could try this: you could also sell your own range of linen. If you enjoy sewing you could make up a kit of beautifully made sheets, pillow cases, doona covers, bedspreads and valances, and either sell them via party-plan or once again, advertise to the higher income bracket households that you have a personalised linen making service that will design and create bedding with matching towels and curtains especially for their home.

Think of some unique way to present your linen too.  I remember going to a linen party once where there was something very unique about the way that the linen could be used.  If my memory serves me correctly, the doona covers were reversible so that they had a different pattern inside than they did on the outside. Plus, you could use what might otherwise be the side that you sleep under as the topside too, so all in all there were four ways to use the doona cover.  I remember thinking at the time what a great idea it was.  If you know how to sew then you can get started on something like this yourself and be selling them in no time.
