Determining the Fee

Determining the Fee

The very first thing you will need to develop is your ability to handle the inquiries as and when they come in. The way you do this will determine how many of your inquiries turn into bookings. There are a few very simple techniques to follow in order to maximise the number of bookings you make from the marketing and promotions that you will do. If you follow these guidelines you will turn a high percentage of your inquiries into bookings. It will then be up to how well you do your work as to whether or not your client decides to let you clean regularly or not. Continue reading

 Editorials

To get your business off to a great start you should try to think of some different angle to grab the readers’ attention and write an editorial to send to your local newspaper. For example, if your were to donate all the money you make in your fist month of being in business to your favourite local charity, the newspaper would favour your article and place it into the community interest section of the local paper, giving your business the push it needs to get started. Or, you could write your story from the angle of perhaps being out of work for many months and deciding to start your own business instead of failing all the interviews you have been attending. Local papers generally do not publish stories that seem only to be promoting the business and do not have a community or charity appeal. You must come up with an idea for promoting your business that would appeal to the community. Donating your earnings to charity would certainly appeal to the community, as would picking yourself up from a difficult situation and triumphing over adversity. Continue reading

Obviously, you will need to keep within your budget when investing in printing and distribution, but be aware also that the promotion will create income for you, therefore paying for its own costs. On the first distribution people will probably pick up and read your leaflet, then either respond, store and keep it, or discard it altogether. If you market your leaflet/flyer correctly the ratios will look like this: Continue reading

  1. Uniforms – if you choose to work in a uniform it is always wise to have a good quality collared T-shirt embossed with your business name and telephone number on it. If you don’t wear a uniform it is always best if you look neat, well presented and professional.

Follow-up Program and Other Useful Hints

Follow Up Program

After the first service to a new client it is recommended that you do a follow-up to see whether they were happy with your work. That way you can do your best to solve any problems that may have occurred due to lack of communication or whatever. If they were happy with your work then simply pencil them in to service again in 7 or 14 days time. Or, in the case of 3 monthly services like window cleaning you should place the client’s details under the month that they were serviced, and place a reminder to yourself to phone again to see if they would like their windows to be re-serviced when next needed. For this type of service you would call after about two months from the date of the first service in order to reschedule the client for their next service. Continue reading
