Follow-up Program and Other Useful Hints

Follow Up Program

After the first service to a new client it is recommended that you do a follow-up to see whether they were happy with your work. That way you can do your best to solve any problems that may have occurred due to lack of communication or whatever. If they were happy with your work then simply pencil them in to service again in 7 or 14 days time. Or, in the case of 3 monthly services like window cleaning you should place the client’s details under the month that they were serviced, and place a reminder to yourself to phone again to see if they would like their windows to be re-serviced when next needed. For this type of service you would call after about two months from the date of the first service in order to reschedule the client for their next service.

Goal Setting

What is a goal? A goal is something you want to do, or have, or become, that is more important than the effort and time necessary for it’s achievement. It is usually something that you want so badly that you give your all in order to accomplish it. Goal Setting, therefore, is the process of systematically writing down your goals and deciding how to achieve them. You will need to set goals in all areas of your life to help you get started, however the goals that we will concentrate on will be those relating to running your business successfully and the basics of budgeting. When it comes to budgeting, you can’t budget if you aren’t making any money, so the first thing to do is to promote your business until you have plenty of clients and are making plenty of money, and then look at working with a budget.

Another important aspect of goal setting is setting realistic and achievable goals. It’s no use setting goals that are well beyond reach, because this alone will demoralise you to the point where you give up. You should not expect your business to really flourish for at least the first twelve months, and it would be more realistic to expect that it will take two years before you will be making really high profits. If you work with this in mind you are more likely to succeed.

Forms for Business and Personal Goals

Try to create for yourself weekly and monthly Goal Sheets, each with a review form on the reverse side. Or if you have the skill to do so, create something that you can use on your computer or phone that does the same thing. These should be used to break down your Annual Plan into easy to handle steps by setting goals for yourself at the start of each year, then breaking down those goals into monthly, and finally, weekly goals.

Alternative Methods of Payment for your Client

There will be some clients who will prefer to use their Visa, Bankcard or MasterCard in order to pay for your services. You can arrange to have these facilities made available by contacting your local bank, or by setting up a Paypal account.
