Sydney: Home Cleaning Rates

The rates chart below outlines fees that are acceptable in most areas of Sydney. However, there are some areas that you will not be able to charge these rates and others where you can charge more. Basically, the areas of Sydney where these rates are acceptable are:

• The St George and Sutherland Shire
• The Inner West
• The Eastern Suburbs
• Parramatta and The Hills Districts
• Some areas of the Campbelltown region
• The Northern Districts ie: Carlingford, Beecroft, Epping
• Chatswood and surrounding suburbs

Areas where these rates and higher are acceptable are:

• The North Shore
• Some parts of the Eastern Suburbs
• Some parts of the Northern Beaches
• Some parts of the Sutherland Shire
• Some parts of the St George District

* At all jobs marked with an asterix (*) I recommend that you provide your own products and equipment. It will enable you to make sure that you have the right tools to do a great job, which means with an exceptional job you can charge more.

You can apply a $15 surcharge on jobs that commence after hours (5.30pm onwards) and weekends.  This is not unreasonable. You can also apply a $50 cancellation fee if the client cancels with less than 24 hours notice, however, getting the money out of them is sometimes very difficult, unless they have signed an agreement at the initial time when you met them and handed over your forms.

The previous fees are recommended to be used in the year commencing 01/01/2008. You can change the rates at any point in time, but generally these rates are quite acceptable in the current economic climate, provided that your level of service and standard of work is high. If you do not live in Sydney then phone the various service providers doing cleaning in your area and check out what fees are being charged where you live.
