Setting up Your Small Business

How and When to Organise the Details of your Small Business

It will be in your best interests to have the basic details in order before commencing your new small business. Continue reading for a list of what you’ll need to get started.

Establishing a Space from which to run your Business

LOCATION: When you first start out in your new business it is advisable that you keep your overheads to a minimum. Therefore it is best to set up from a room at home that will be suitable for running an office, and a separate room for your beauty room.

Supplies and Equipment for your office:

  1. Desk or table large enough to work from.

  2. Appointment book for rescheduling clients.

  3. Business telephone or if wanting to minimize your start-up costs, use your current home telephone and train all members of the family to answer it in a business-like fashion during normal working hours. Or use a mobile that only you answer, which is the best option in the long run.

  4. Stationery, envelopes, business cards and other related supplies, pens, pencils etc.

  5. A Personal Computer along with appropriate individual accounting and record keeping program.

  6. Printer and Photocopier (for multiple copies of flyers and brochures).

Supplies and Equipment for your Beauty room:

  1. Beauty Bed

  2. Wax Pots and Waxes

  3. Clean Towels and a Pillow

  4. Calico Roll for Wax strips

  5. Pre-treatment Body Wash

  6. Antiseptic Spray

  7. Wooden and Metal Spatulas

  8. Wax Cleanser for cleaning equipment

  9. Barrier Crème for post-waxing soothing of skin

  10. Tweezers for stray hair removal

  11. Scissors

  12. Appointment book for setting a return booking

  13. Toweling Wrap Gown

  14. A range of Beauty Products to offer to your client to purchase while they are with you.

  15. Foot-spa and finger bowls for Pedicure and Manicure treatments

  16. Kidney bowl and Eyelash Tint for eyelash tint procedures

  17. Oils for Body Massage and Essential Oils for foot-massage

  18. Epsom salts for foot-spa treatments

  19. A range of makeup and nail polishes for makeup and nail services

Storing Supplies and Equipment:

  1. Cupboard space.

  2. Shelving space.

  1. Nail table & beauty bed space.

  2. Area should be kept dry at all times.
