When advertising your new small business there are a couple of guidelines to stick to:

  1. When advertising in the local paper it is more important for your ad to appear constantly than for the size of your ad to stand out. A small 3-5 line ad that appears week-in, week-out will pull in more clients than a big, bold, glossy ad that appears once a month, no matter where that ad happens to be. Remember that the basic principle of advertising is repetition. The more the public sees and hears your name, the more responses you will receive.

  2. When advertising your cleaning services for the domestic clientele, you will find that your ad will work better in the classified section than in the display section. For other types of cleaning such as commercial cleaning you may need to use the Trade section of the paper or send your marketing to business owners direct. If you wish to specialise in move-in or move-out cleans then you may like to advertise in the real-estate section of the paper or on the internet wherever there are ads for houses for sale.
