Beauty Pre-Opening Checklist 

Here in this article is a list of things that need to be done if you’re opening a home based beauty clinic. Read it and check off your Home Based Beauty Pre-Opening Checklist.

1. Check your products to make sure that you have all the supplies needed, and that any equipment that you will be using is in complete working order.
2. Uniform – if you choose to work in a uniform it is always wise to have a good quality white, or pastel coloured tunic embossed with your business name, logo and telephone number on it. Otherwise just look neat, well presented and professional.

Stationery

1. Business Cards – Use your logo or letterhead on all printed matter, flyers, printed copy of your ad etc. Hand your card out wherever you go to people who serve you eg. If you eat in a restaurant and the waitress gives great service, hand your business card with your tip at the end of the meal. She may decide to use your beauty services if you are in her local area.
2. Insurance – Public Liability, Income Protection and Professional Indemnity. These are a part of the complete coverage that you should have.
3. Telephone – Use a separate mobile phone for maximum results.

Bank Accounts etc

1. Bank accounts – Open a business account and a personal account. Keep the two separate. See your accountant for advice on tax.
2. Visa (V), Bankcard (BC) and Mastercard (MC). Use logos in all your advertising and if advertising on your car, on the sides and back of your car.
3. Accounting System – business records – use some budgeting forms weekly, and see your accountant every three to four months.
4. Licenses – You don’t need a license to run your Beauty Business from home, especially if you are linked in with a company like Nutrimetics or Grace Cosmetics. You are an independent distributor.

Exercises

• Design your own leaflet for distribution to local homes in your area.
• Set up your beauty clinic.
• Open Two Bank accounts.
• Look through your wardrobe or purchase clothing suitable for doing treatments. Have a standard set of colours that you wear all the time.
• Place ads in various free classified sites on the internet and also on Gumtree and Facebook.
• Set up a separate phone for your business.
• Design some business cards and have them printed. Remember to use both sides of the card to promote yourself and your services.
