Working as a Couple (Male/Female)

This is why working as a couple is the right way to go in the home cleaning profession: Firstly, if you are a single male wanting to work in the domestic cleaning industry you should attempt to team up with a female, or you may find that you won’t get any work (or perhaps not as much as you would like, unless you are gay). This is because when a woman is at home by herself with her children, she feels that her safety is threatened if you are male and she doesn’t know you. So team up with a woman so that you will be able to find enough work.

Then, when you work as a couple, remember that you must explain very clearly and slowly to your new client that each of you earns the hourly rate, and that a booking of say, 4 hours, is done in just 2 hours when two people are there. Explain to your client that he or she still receives the full 4 hours value as far as the amount of work that will be done, however, when two people perform the work you share the time between you. It is very important that your client understands this before you start working in their home, or you may find that they will only pay you for the time on the clock rather than paying each of you for two hours work each ie. 4 hours.

Make sure that you divide the jobs between you in a way that has each of you doing the work that you are best at eg. if you have an eye for detail and your partner is stronger than you, make sure that you are doing the kitchens and bathrooms and that your partner is moving the furniture and doing the vacuuming.
